One of the most intriguing bits of information we've had about Star Wars' Young Han Solo film is that it would reveal the smuggler's real name.

That puzzling prospect wasn't a Reddit rumour or a tip from one of the trade publications, it was actually something Disney CEO Bob Iger promised during a recent Q&A with students at the University of Southern California.

"We're actually shooting now an origin story of Han Solo, which will come out in 2018," Iger explained last month.

"That picks up with Han Solo when he was 18 years old and takes him through when he was 24. There are a few significant things that happen in Han Solo's life, like acquiring a certain vehicle and meeting a certain Wookiee that will happen in this film. But you will also discover how he got his name."

Many fans were puzzled, having always assumed that Han Solo actually was his real name! Thankfully, we now have a bit of clarification courtesy of Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

Kennedy told reporters at the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Florida that Iger was simply mixed up when he hinted that Han had some kind of secret origin.

"I'm not sure that that's entirely what Bob meant," she admitted to MTV News. "There's more to Han Solo's name, but it's not that it's not his name. It's obviously his name. It will always be his name."

Phew! We were starting to fear that Han's real name was Hannibal… and that prospect was giving us nightmares.

Alden Ehrenreich will play the Young Han Solo in this next Star Wars Story Anthology movie, which will explore how he met Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) and Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover).

The Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller bring us the still-untitled Han Solo film on May 25, 2018 in the UK and the US.
