Will we ever see Darth Maul again?

After starring as Darth Maul in 'The Phantom Menace', it looks as though actor and martial artist Ray Park would do anything to be in 'Star Wars' again… and it doesn't even have to be as the red-faced Sith.

I have to admit, when it comes to the 'Star Wars' prequels, Darth Maul was without a doubt my favourite villain. I'll always remember seeing him on-screen for the first time and being blown away by his new, acrobatic fighting style… and that double-bladed lightsaber was simply awesome. But despite his untimely death at the hands of Obi-Wan, it looks as though actor Ray Park would love to return to the galaxy far, far away. And he's pretty excited at the thought of 'Episode VII'.

"I think it's great that J.J. is doing it," he explained in an interview with Flicks and the City. "I've known for many years that he's a big 'Star Wars' fan. What he's done for 'Star Trek' is phenomenal. I think he's the right man for the job and I'm ecstatic that 'Star Wars' is coming back."

"When I was a kid, I used to go: 'Why did they film 4, 5 and 6? When are they gonna do 6, 7 and 8? 1, 2 and 3?' And now they're actually doing it."

Back last month, Ray Park revealed that he'd love to return as Darth Maul… but while an appearance in 'Episode VII' might be out of the question for our favourite Sith assassin, he doesn't mind taking on an entirely different role.

"I've said that I would play anything to do with 'Star Wars'," he added. "But really, deep down, I would love to come back as Darth Maul - that's what I want to do. I would go crazy, go mental, lock myself in a cabin, you know. Do the whole 'method' for two or three months, spear-fishing and stuff… just to play the character again."

Of course, a lot of time will have passed between the events of 'The Phantom Menace' and 'Episode VII'… and while that makes his re-appearance more unlikely, who's to say Darth Maul won't pop up in one of the announced 'Star Wars' spin-offs?

Personally, I'd love to see it happen… but give him a bit more screen-time this time around.

Do you think Ray Park could return to the galaxy far, far away? Would you like to see the return of Darth Maul? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
