Yahoo Movies Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker concept art puts Finn and Rose at heart of the revolution
Star Wars' sidelining of Finn (John Boyega) and Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) in The Rise of Skywalker was problematic to say the least.
However, it appears that Colin Trevorrow's original incarnation of Episode IX would have given them much more prominent roles, at least going by newly-released concept art.
Released via Collider , the art depicts Finn at the heart of a revolution, waving a blue flag with Rose by his side, wearing very cool-looking Resistance armour. Familiar faces in the form of Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and Chewbacca also seem to be leading the revolution from the front.

Of course, we know that JJ Abrams' final product squandered the potential shown by both characters in the two previous movies. Finn was essentially reduced to chasing after Rey, while his Force potential was left completely unexplored in the end.
Rose hardly had any screen time at all following her prominent role in The Last Jedi, a move that looked particularly bad given the racist and sexist trolling Tran received following the release of the last movie.

Meanwhile, earlier this week Boyega gave a powerful speech in support of Black Lives Matter following the death of George Floyd, which has since received praise from Star Wars.
"I don't know if I'm going to have a career after this, but f**k that," he said.
"Today is about innocent people who were halfway through their process. We don't know what George Floyd could have achieved, we don't know what Sandra Bland could have achieved, but today we're going to make sure that that won't be an alien thought to our young ones.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+, Sky Cinema Premiere and NOW TV.
