Star Wars: Rogue One Finds Its Leading Men

It looks like Disney and LucasFilm’s first ‘Star Wars’ spin-off has found it’s primary cast, with Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed and Ben Mendelsohn joining Felicity Jones in 'Rogue One’.

While there has been no official word yet, the ever-reliable Variety are reporting sources claiming the film’s cast is beginning to take serious shape.

Felicity Jones was confirmed to star back in March. She will play one of the Rebel spies sent to acquire the plans for the original Death Star in a prequel to the original 'Star Wars’ film.

Alongside her will be Mexican-born actor Luna, 'Nightcrawler’ star Ahmed and Mendelsohn - who is best known for his role in Christopher Nolan’s 'The Dark Knight Rises’.

Mendelsohn will reportedly be playing the film’s villain - presumably a member of the Imperial Empire.

Luna is best known for roles in 'Elysium’, 'The Terminal’ and Oscar-winner 'Milk’.

Variety say Disney and LucasFilm had no comment on their story, and add that these four actors will be the leads in a large ensemble they liken in size to 'The Dirty Dozen’ and 'Saving Private Ryan’.

'Godzilla’ reboot director Gareth Edwards is at the helm working from the story developed by John Knoll and Gary Whitta, and written for the screen by Chris Weitz.

'Star Wars: Rogue One’ is set for release on 16 December 2016.
