Star Wars: The Force Awakens Fans Are Already Queuing

We’re now just over one week away from ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ finally being in cinemas.

And while the film is tantalisingly close it’s still not early enough for most moviegoers to be queuing outside cinemas for their screenings. But that hasn’t stopped some mega-fans.

Members of Liningup.net have actually been camping outside Los Angeles’ TCL Chinese Theatre since Saturday December 5, and by the time they get inside for the first screening on Thursday December 17 they will have been there for 12 straight days.

However, before you start dismissing their antics as peculiar, it should also be noted that they’re doing all this in the name of charity, as they’ve partnered up with Starlight Children’s Foundation to raise awareness and funds.

You can head over to LiningUp.net, Starlight Children’s Foundation, and Star Wars Line HW’s Twitter page to donate or to just keep up to date with their staggering efforts.

Speaking about her decision to take part in this nomadic gathering, ‘Star Wars’ super-fan Caroline Ritter, who actually flew from Australia to Los Angeles to take part, admitted to The Hollywood Reporter, “I am a hiker so I had all of the gear, but the chance to sleep out on the ground in front of the TCL theatre, you do not get that very often. “

The TCL is the only theatre where the group have been allowed to gather, and each member has been sleeping on the hand and foot imprints of famous Hollywood stars.

Liningup.net was first organized back in 1999 for the release of ‘Star Wars: The Phantom Menace’, before similar gatherings were orchestrated for the 2003 and 2005 sequels.

For these events fans had to stand on the sidewalks, but the TCL, which was also the home for the premiere of 1977’s ‘Star Wars’, has now allowed those in attendance to sleep in the theatre’s courtyard outside the entrance.

Just because I know you’ve been wondering, they’ve also allowed them to use the cinema’s restrooms, while they can shower at the hostel down the street.

Liningup.net have pre-booked the 576 available tickets for the early screening of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, and those who have been waiting in line for 24 hours and longer can then purchase one of them. Depending on how long you’ve been there, you can then select a better seat too.

And after all this time and effort let’s just hope that J.J. Abrams doesn’t disappoint when ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ is released nationwide across the US on December 18, which, just to rub it in slightly, is a full 24 hours after it’s been released in the UK.
