Rogue One: Warwick Davis' latest Star Wars character revealed
A brand new TV spot for ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ has offered a first look at the latest character to be played by series regular Warwick Davis.
Davis excitedly took to Twitter to share a screengrab of the character: seemingly a soldier for the Rebel Alliance, who is seen firing a blaster.
My @starwars #RogueOne character made the TV trailer cut. Incidentally, this is the first #StarWars character I've played who has a blaster! pic.twitter.com/zTcPnq9BEN

This is Davis’ fourth ‘Star Wars’ film, meaning he’s appeared in as many as Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. He’s also set to appear in next year’s ‘Episode 8’.
He started out playing Princess Leia’s Ewok pal Wicket in ‘Return of the Jedi’ before playing three characters in ‘The Phantom Menace’ (including Anakin’s Rodian friend Wald). In ‘The Force Awakens’ he played Wollivan, a patron of Maz Kanata’s bar.
His latest character hasn’t yet been named.
Like most his roles, Davis is unlikely to have many lines or much influence on the plot (only Wicket did), but as a ‘Star Wars’ fanatic and an excellent ambassador for the brand, hopefully he’ll be in many more movies to come.
The latest TV ad arrives one month before the film’s anticipated release. A lovely new poster (via USA Today) was also released to mark the film’s IMAX release.
Directed by ‘Monsters’ and Godzilla’s Gareth Edwards, ‘Rogue One’ is a prequel set shortly before the events of 1977’s ‘A New Hope’ and tells the story of a Rebel-led operation to steal the plans for the Empire’s terrifying super-weapon, the Death Star.
Felicity Jones stars as Jyn Erso, alongside Riz Ahmed, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk, Diego Luna, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn and a certain someone called Darth Vader. The film will be released in the UK on 15 December.
