Stormzy Glastonbury 2019 headline set branded ‘utterly embarrassing’ by fans: ‘RIP Glasto’
Stormzy has been confirmed as the first headliner for Glastonbury 2019, a move that has divided festival goers.
The London-born grime artist will take to the iconic Pyramid Stage when the music bash returns to Worthy Farm in June following a fallow year.
The news was confirmed on Thursday after a poster appeared in the window of an Oxfam shop in Streatham.
According to reports on social media, posters have also appeared near the Glastonbury site.

The news riled some festivalgoers who claimed the artist is not “big enough” to headline the event having only released one album.
One Twitter user posted: “Stormzy announced as first headliner for Glastonbury? RIP Glasto.”
Another tweeted: “Stormzy HEADLINING Glastonbury, utterly embarrassing.”
A third wrote: “Stormzy. Seriously. What a s**** start to the Glastonbury Headliner announcements.”

Stormzy headlining glastonbury is a joke, he's literally got 1 album. So many more deserving headliners

Stormzy is massive for grime, but the guy has 1 album. Surely that ain't a big enough catalogue to headline Glastonbury. Bloody fuming 😤

Stormzy's great and all, but there's no way he's big enough to headline Reading let alone Glastonbury

So Stormzy is headlining Glastonbury. If that’s not selling it’s sole then what is? I’m not totally against him even performing on the Pyramid, he’d do a good set, but to headline it. The Rolling Stones, Bowie, The Who.... Stormzy.

Others celebrated the news, hailing it an “excellent decision”.
One user tweeted: “Mad to see stormzy headlining Glastonbury. He can definitely do it.”
A second posted: “Stormzy headlining glastonbury is sooooo f****** sick man.”
Stormzy, real name Michael Omari, will be the first grime MC to headline the famous festival a year on from his BRIT award winning album Gang Signs and Prayers.
He previously performed on the Other Stage in 2017.
He was among a handful of names rumoured to have landed coveted slots at the event including Sir Paul McCartney, Kendrick Lamar, ABBA and Madonna.
Kylie Minogue is tipped to be taking on the Sunday afternoon Legends Slot. The Australian pop princess was scheduled to headline in 2005 but cancelled a month before as she battled breast cancer.
Tickets for Glastonbury sold out within 32 minutes last month, with re-sale up for grabs in April.
Standard Online has contacted Glastonbury organisers for comment.
Glastonbury Festival takes place from June 26-30 2019.
