Strand Acquires ‘Eisenstein in Guanajuato'; ‘Tomorrow We Disappear’ To Bond/360

Strand Releasing has acquired all U.S. rights to Peter Greenaway’s historical drama Eisenstein In Guanajuat. The film, which had its world premiere in competition at Berlin, centers on Soviet filmmaker Sergei Eisenstein’s romance with a local male guide while shooting Que Viva Mexico in Guanajuato in 1931. Elmer Back and Luis Alberti star alongside Maya Zapata, Lisa Owen, Stelio Savante, Rasmus Slatis and Jakob Ohrman. Eisenstein is produced by Bruno Felix and Femke Wolting at Submarine, San Fu Matha at Fu Works and Cristina Velasco at Paloma Negra. Jon Gerrans of Strand Releasing negotiated the deal with Jean-Christophe Simon of Films Boutique.Strand plans a late-2015 or early-2016 release after the North American premiere at the Seattle International Film Festival later in the spring

Bond/360 has picked up rights to Tomorrow We Disappear, a documentary about the last days of Kathputli, a hand-built artist colony hidden away in the alleyways of New Delhi. The pic, which premiered in competition at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival, follows a community of magicians, acrobats and puppeteers over three years as they approach their looming eviction to make way for a modern skyscraper. Jimmy Goldblum and Adam Weber directed and produced the film, along with director of photography and producer Joshua Cogan. Guneet Monga and Alison Klayman served as executive producers. Bond/360 negotiated the deal with Preferred Content and WME Global and will distribute it on all major VOD platforms in July.
