Marmalade, the new film starring Stranger Things’ Joe Keery, has released its first trailer.

The film follows Baron (Keery), who recalls his history with the titular character (Camila Morrone) to cellmate Otis (Aldis Hodge). Whilst behind bars, the pair hatch a plan to escape, with Baron yearning to be reunited with Marmalade.

The trailer depicts Baron and Marmalade's crime spree and growing romance, with their Bonnie and Clyde-esque crimes being committed in order to fund care for his sick mother.

“Marmalade has been a beautiful collaboration with filmmaker and crew,” said producer Marc Goldberg of the project. “We are excited for the brilliant Keery to star alongside rising star Morrone in this thrilling story and look forward to launching it for buyers at the market.”

The project is the directorial debut from Keir O’Donnell, who previously starred in Fargo and American Sniper. O’Donnell is also penning the script, with the film set to be released in the UK on February 12.

Keery will soon return to his role as Steve Harrington for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, with the star previously revealing that he had mixed thoughts on the conclusion of the Netflix show.

“It does feel like it's time. It won't be easy for it to end. I mean, I owe my whole career to being on that show and all the opportunities that I had since are because of that show.

“So it's very convoluted. There's a sense of relief [and] sadness. I guess my goal is to just really soak it up as much as I can while we're doing it, and not take any of it for granted because it's been an amazing ride with such great people.”

Marmalade will be released in the US on February 9 and in the UK on February 12.
