Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn joins Gladiator sequel
Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn has joined the cast of upcoming the upcoming Gladiator sequel.
According to Deadline, Quinn will be playing the role of Emperor Caracalla in Ridley Scott's long-awaited follow-up, while Wonder Woman's Connie Nielsen will also be back to reprise her role as Lucilla.
Nielsen's return could also be a key one, as the film is set to focus on the adult life of Lucius, the son of Lucilla and nephew of Joaquin Phoenix's Commodus, several years after the events of the original.
Normal People's breakout star Paul Mescal has already been confirmed to be playing the role, with Barry Keoghan and Denzel Washington also announced for the film.

Known for his role as Eddie Munson in the fourth season of Netflix's hit series Stranger Things, Quinn is currently filming for Quiet Place prequel A Quiet Place: Day One, with first look photos being revealed earlier this month.
Since her role in the 2000 original, Nielsen has a joined the World of DC, playing Queen Hippolyta in the Wonder Woman and Justice League films. She will next be seen in Role Play alongside Kaley Cuoco, David Oyelowo and Bill Nighy.
Nielsen previously spoke of her interest in reprising the role of Lucilla. "I know that it's on the ledger," she told Collider in 2021.
"It would obviously be amazing, and I know that a lot of people want to see more of that."

Mescal recently gave an update on the film's production schedule, revealing that filming will begin later this summer.
"I'm not sure what the exact start date is, but it's in the summer," he told Deadline in February, adding that he had already begun the process of getting in shape for the role.
Gladiator 2 will be released on November 22, 2024.
