Strictly Come Dancing’s Craig Revel Horwood ‘furious’ that Seann Walsh and Katya Jones weren’t voted out

Strictly’s Craig Revel Horwood is reportedly furious that Seann Walsh and Katya Jones weren’t voted off of the show on Sunday, after they were caught kissing earlier in the week.

The head judge and a number of the professional dancers are thought to be fuming over the fact that the pair survived Sunday’s results show, while Katie Piper and Gorka Marquez lost their place.

Comedian Walsh and his married dance partner were caught kissing in the street after a boozy night out last week, despite both being in serious relationships.

Despite facing serious backlash since the photos emerged, the pair were saved by the public after scoring 28 points for their Charlston this weekend.

“There was a lot of anger backstage on Saturday. The feeling from the professionals and judges was that Seann and Katya deserved to go — but they weren’t even in the bottom two,” a show source told The Sun.

“It feels very unfair on Katie and her partner Gorka. Craig was vocal in the last week about his thoughts on Katya and Seann and there was no change after the show.”

The insider added: “He made it quite clear he felt they should have gone and that, if it hadn’t been for poorer performances, they would.

“Craig told guests how dismayed he was that the ‘Terrible Two’, as he calls them, were given another chance.”

The pair reportedly drafted in a professional choreographer to help them with the move for this week’s dance.

“And although all pairings were allowed the luxury, colleagues felt it unjust,” added the insider.

Former Strictly judge Arlene Phillips said that “everyone was on tenterhooks” to see if they would make it through during an interview on Monday’s Good Morning Britain.

Because it made headlines, notoriety brings attention, and certainly ratings, because everyone was on tenterhooks to see what was going to happen and how everyone was going to react,” she said.

Phillips also seemed sceptical that the pair wouldn’t have known that they would be photographed kissing.

“I don’t quite think they did it deliberately. They must be aware when you see every Strictly dancer turning up for rehearsal with no make-up and the coffee cup in their hand in every newspaper, I don’t think anyone could think they could get away with that kind of a kiss and nobody notice,” she said.

Evening Standard has contacted Revel Horwood's representatives for comment.
