Abbey Clancy may have looked like a natural on the Strictly dance-floor with partner Aljaž Škorjanec back in 2013 - but the model has admitted that she suffered from such bad nerves before live shows, she "would have rather died" than perform live.

The star ended up lifting the Glitterball trophy to victory as she impressed judges and viewers alike with her show-stopping performances, and although she made it look so effortless and easy, she has revealed that she was petrified of performing for the public.

Speaking on the 12 Questions podcast, which is hosted by music producer Fraser T Smith and also featured Abbey's husband football Peter Crouch and music legend Nile Rodgers, Abbey explained: "When I did Strictly, I loved practising in the rehearsal room, and then when I had to do the live show, I would have rather died, it was that severe.

"We did a live tour in all the big arenas and I hated it. I hated the crowd cheering me... It was such a bizarre feeling to me."

She continued: "I was on Jonathan Ross and I was sitting next to Stevie Wonder, sitting in silence and he said to me, 'Why are you so scared?', and he could just feel the energy coming off me. As a child I was like, 'Look at me!' As I've got older, the fear overtakes my ability to do things well."

Meanwhile, Strictly recently confirmed the dancers that will be returning to the show this year - which will include Oti Mabuse, Aljaž Škorjanec, Amy Dowden, Anton Du Beke, Dianne Buswell, Giovanni Pernice, Gorka Marquez, Graziano Di Prima, Janette Manrara, Johannes Radebe, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Luba Mushtuk, Nadiya Bychkova, Nancy Xu, and Neil Jones.

"We are so thrilled to be welcoming back our incredible line-up of professional dancers for 2021," says Sarah James, Executive Producer, BBC Studios. "Their passion and dedication for Strictly shone through more than ever last year as they all sacrificed so much to deliver an unforgettable series during unprecedented and challenging times.

"With so much talent returning to the ballroom, the 2021 series promises more show-stopping choreography, memorable performances and world class dancing."

The Strictly celebrity line-up has yet to be announced.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One. It's due to return later in 2021.
