Succession star Kieran Culkin's new movie gets 100% Rotten Tomatoes score
Succession star Kieran Culkin's new movie A Real Pain has received a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film stars Culkin and Jesse Eisenberg, who is also the director, as cousins who go on a tour of Europe to explore Jewish history after their grandmother's death, specifically looking at how things changed as a result of the Holocaust and World War II.
The cousins also plan to search for the house their grandmother grew up in on their travels.
The White Lotus' Will Sharpe, Dirty Dancing's Jennifer Grey and House of the Dragon's Kurt Egyiawan also star in the movie.

Following the premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, the film has received positive reviews from every critic that Rotten Tomatoes includes, leading to its score.
Here's what some of the critics have said:
The Guardian - 3/5
"A Real Pain is, on one level, a philosophical inquiry into how to contextualize, scale or feel the universal, galling experience of human pain; how to weigh one's individual problems in the face of great tragedy... what to do with a legacy of suffering and survival. And it is more straightforwardly a combustion of performance styles: Culkin and Eisenberg play extremely to their types."
Variety
"Eisenberg unfolds the story with an organic flow, and he has a gift for interweaving airy comedy and gravitas – the unbearable lightness of good screenwriting – that's reminiscent of what Richard Linklater brought off in the Before films. A Real Pain is an easy watch, a buddy movie rooted in the existential fun of verbal sparring. Yet it has an emotional kick that sneaks up on you."

TheWrap
"There is always a question of whether even the most talented of actors can emerge beyond their most acclaimed role. While there are echoes of Roman in Culkin's role in the bittersweet dramedy A Real Pain, he still proves that he is much more than his past television character, as he gives what is among his absolute best performances to date."
The Hollywood Reporter
"Eisenberg's first feature as director, When You Finish Saving the World, drew a mixed reception but showed promise. With A Real Pain, he demonstrates impeccable judgment and great skill at balancing sardonic wit with piercing solemnity in a movie full of feeling, in which no emotion is unearned."
A Real Pain has just been picked up by Searchlight Pictures, with the aim to release it in cinemas later this year.
