Yahoo Movies Is Summer on the way? Warm temperatures expected to return again in May
Last week, Britain experienced an unexpected slice of summer – with temperatures reaching a balmy 29 degrees in some places.
But while the heat has settled down a bit, it seems that May could see the return of some altogether warmer climes.
According to the Met Office, May will offer some certain signs that summer is on the way – although it’s not necessarily going to be the heatwave that we were all hoping for.
‘It’s likely to get a bit warmer, but we’re not seeing any certain signs of a heatwave’, a Met Office forecaster said.
‘The UK will be a battleground, with high pressure from the Atlantic coming in’.
The Met Office’s official forecast for May states: ‘Temperatures are likely to be variable during this period as is often the case at this time of the year, averaging out close to normal.

‘However, if a drier and more settled spell develops, then temperatures may become warmer than average.’
May temperatures in the UK are usually expected to reach a daily high of 16 degrees Celsius.

In contrast, forecasters from the WeatherChannel.com have boldly claimed that a 10-day heatwave could be arriving in the middle of the month.
A forecaster told the Mirror: ‘High pressure over central Europe will drift eastward and another area of high pressure will build over the North Atlantic.
‘During this time, an area of low pressure in between will split, and the smaller low will stall for a while near the Bay of Biscay and pump up warmer air over the UK.’
