1. ‘My dear Papa was a very special person’: Prince Charles's touching tribute

The Prince of Wales paid a touching tribute to his father the Duke of Edinburgh on Saturday night, saying: "My dear Papa was a very special person."

In an unscripted televised address, an emotional Prince Charles, 72, said: "As you can imagine, my family and I miss my father enormously. He was a much-loved and appreciated figure." Read the full story.

2. Prince Philip puts Land Rover hearse at heart of funeral he designed

The Duke of Edinburgh’s coffin will be carried through the grounds of Windsor Castle in a modified Land Rover that he designed for the occasion himself.

The funeral will take place next Saturday at 3pm, following a short procession in which the Prince of Wales and senior members of the Royal family will follow the coffin on foot as it is driven to St George’s Chapel. Read the full story.

3. PM bows out of Duke's funeral to allow extra family member to attend

Boris Johnson will not attend the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh in order to free up a space for a member of the Royal family, with only 30 people able to attend because of Covid restrictions.

On Friday, other political parties had been told the Prime Minister would be the only politician attending Prince Philip's funeral next Saturday and would be doing so on behalf of all MPs. Read the full story.

4. Half of people in England live in areas that are Covid free

Over half of people in England now live in an area in which new cases of Covid have all but vanished, with some places not reporting a case in public data for more than a month.

Infections have been so low in areas with a total population of 34.5 million that Public Health England has redacted their latest weekly case tallies in order to protect the privacy of those – if any – who test positive. Read the full story.

5. Big Brother star Nikki Grahame dies, aged 38

Reality TV star Nikki Grahame, who rose to fame as a contestant on Big Brother, has died at the age of 38. She had been suffering from anorexia.

Grahame, originally from Northwood in London, appeared on the seventh series of Big Brother in 2006 and quickly became one of the show's most recognisable contestants, complete with her own catchphrase that was born when she shouted "who is she?" repeatedly in the diary room. Read the full story.
