Yahoo Movies Superstore season 6 isn't likely to come to Netflix UK anytime soon
Superstore has been gaining a new crop of UK fans after the first five seasons were added to Netflix UK in early January.
Anyone who's finished a bingewatch already will be left with one major question. No, not why season two starts with that random Olympics episode, but when will they get to watch season six?
The final season (sob) of the workplace sitcom set at the fictional Cloud 9 big-box store is currently airing on NBC in the US. However, the episodes that have aired to date haven't been added to Netflix alongside the five completed seasons to date.
And we're sorry to say that it might be a while to wait for the final season to be added in its entirety on Netflix UK.
Superstore's Netflix release isn't the first time it's been aired in the UK as it's been shown on ITV2. There's not a confirmed release date for season six's airing on ITV2, but ITV confirmed to Digital Spy that the final season will be shown later this year.
The channel will also continue to show the first five seasons of Superstore, so it's not just on Netflix where you'll be able to catch up (or rewatch) the show to date.
It's unclear whether Netflix will be adding the final season ahead of ITV2 or has to wait until its initial broadcast. The streaming giant hasn't yet confirmed a release date for season six, which makes us think it won't be until later this year at the earliest.
Take fellow NBC sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine, for instance.
Each season of the sitcom has premiered on E4 in the UK before being added to Netflix at a later date. Season seven aired last year, but it's only just been confirmed for a March 26 release on Netflix, an entire year since season seven debuted on E4.
As with Superstore, previous seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine still air on E4, as well as being on Netflix, so it could well be a similar situation with Superstore. That could mean it won't be until 2022 until the final season is added to Netflix.
We're sorry to not have more heavenly news, but we are just speculating for now so we'll happily be proven wrong.
Superstore seasons 1-5 are available to watch now on Netflix, while season 6 is currently airing on NBC in the US. It will be shown later this year on ITV2 in the UK.
