Susanna Reid surprised fans by sharing a photo of herself reading the news 20 years ago.

The 49-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter posted a screengrab of her first ever national news bulletin for BBC News in 2000 - sporting blunt cropped hair with a heavy fringe - which she likened to a Playmobil toy.

Reid said on GMB after the clip was played: “That jacket - it was like the news jacket and the news wig. It was like us news readers used to just pass it around!”

Reid also laughed at her clipped Received Pronunciation speech on the bulletin.

Former BBC news reader and royal correspondent Jennie Bond, 69, tweeted Reid to say: “I’m sure I had a wardrobe full of similar jackets...and much the same haircut! Why did we feel we had to wear a sort of uniform? Thank goodness things have become a bit more relaxed!”

But many of the comments fron fans and followers noted that Reid looks younger in her most recent photo than she did in 2000.

One wrote: “Like a decent bottle of Bordeaux, you get better with age.”

While another said: “How do you look younger now TELL ME YOUR SECRETS [sic]”

And many agreed Reid looks younger now.
