Susanna Reid and Tom Bower did not see eye-to-eye on Good Morning Britain today (March 22).

The famous author, who has previously penned biographies about Simon Cowell, Tony Blair and Robert Maxwell, has released a new book about Prince Charles which he was promoting on the show.

In the work, which is titled Rebel Prince, he sensationally claims that the Royal used a spin doctor to try to turn the public against Princess Diana, snubbed Carole Middleton and takes his own bed, furniture and paintings when he stays with friends.

After listening to the allegations, Susanna ridiculed the author: "It sounds like nonsense!"

However, Tom insisted his claims were based on interviews with more than 120 people who used to work for Charles.

Clearly unimpressed, Susanna quipped: "But did you actually speak to Prince Charles? No. So really, all of this is kind of hearsay."

She then went on describe the book as "quite disruptive" and "intensely personal".

Tom also claimed that Charles is against using pesticides and so employs retired servicemen to prowl through the undergrowth at night at Highgrove Gardens to handpick slugs from the leaves of plants.

"So basically, it's just gardeners doing their jobs?" Susanna hit back sarcastically.

Ben Shephard then added: "It sounds like a David Walliams book, doesn't it?"

After contacting Clarence House, Good Morning Britain was told that there was no comment on the allegations made in the book.

Tom then revealed that the subject of his next autobiography is the leader of the Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn.

"I don't think he's in love with the idea," the author laughed.

Susanna then threw in one last dig: "You mean because it's always a hatchet job?"

Defending himself, Tom hit back: "You're cheeky! It's always fair and objective."

However, judging by the reaction on Twitter, viewers seemed to agree with Susanna:
