Anyone But You, the anticipated rom-com starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, has landed a release date for this year.

The new project was announced earlier this year, and sees the Euphoria and Top Gun: Maverick pair play two characters who hate each other so much they cannot resist one another.

Taking place in Sydney, they go on various holiday hijinks together, including getting spiders in their pants.

Sony has now confirmed that the movie will be released on December 15 in US and UK cinemas.

Anyone But You is being directed by Will Gluck, who has also written the screenplay with Ilana Wolpert.

Alongside the rom-com, Sweeney has a busy slate coming up, which includes Sony/Marvel movie Madame Web, a remake of Barbarella, National Anthem alongside Halsey, and Apple TV+'s Echo Valley with Julianne Moore and Domhnall Gleeson.

She's also been earning acclaim for her turn in new movie Reality, which focuses on Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election and has earned a 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

One reviewer wrote: "[Director Tina] Satter's handling of the material and Sweeney's performance... bring this into a more compelling and intriguing space where questions of narrative truth, perception, and the punishment for honesty can be examined."

Powell, meanwhile, starred in Top Gun: Maverick last year, and was recently cast alongside Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins in Locked, a remake of crime thriller 4x4, as well as a new sequel to Twister with Normal People's Daisy Edgar-Jones.

Anyone But You is released in cinemas on December 15.
