The sturdy stars of ‘The Expendables 3’ turned out in force for the movie’s London premiere last night, with main man Sylvester Stallone flanked by his nearest and dearest.

Sly pitched up on the red carpet with his wife Jennifer Flavine and daughters Sistine, Scarlet and Sophia.

The 68-year-old action veteran then gamely did the rounds, meeting fans and posing for countless selfies in Leicester Square.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Stallone seemed to be signalling the distinct possibility of a fourth movie in the series.

“Each one is one continuous story, and you hope that it keeps going,” he said. “I think so. We’ve got a group here that wants to come back.”

Earlier, Sly had joshed with reporters, saying that the back injury he sustained on-set – he needed surgery and a metal plate – was an indication of the quality of the new movie.

“I grade the quality of a film by the intensity of the injuries. When I shot ‘Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot’, I never got hurt,” he said.

“Through ‘Rambo’ and ‘The Expendables’, I break my neck and my spine and I dislocate both shoulders. In this one here, I end up really taking a fall on my back and had some metal put in there, so if you hear any squeaking, it’s not my shoes but my back. But I’m getting better.”

Showing his acerbic side, Sly also took a cheeky swipe at new co-star Wesley Snipes and his recent incarceration for evading tax in the US.

“You don’t mind that I’m readying you for a part in ‘Escape From Alcatraz 2’ do you?” he said.

Snipes also joked about it too, saying he’d been waiting to work with Stallone again ever since their pairing in ‘Demolition Man’ in 1993.

“I’ve been waiting to work with you ever since. You were busy… I was busy,” he said.

Also pitching up for the red carpet were co-stars Antonio Banderas – who also revealed he was injured in his very first take, but said he’d kept it quiet – alongside Jason Statham and Kellan Lutz.

'The Expendables 3' is on general release from August 14.
