It’s official – ‘Mission: Impossible 6’ has begun. Ethan Hunt is back in action as ‘Mission: Impossible 6’ takes to the skies for an action-packed first day of production. Director Chris McQuarrie appeared on Twitter to officially announce that production on the highly-anticipated ‘Mission Impossible’ sequel had begun, taking Tom Cruise to dizzying heights in Paris, France.
It looks as though Tom Cruise might not choose to accept his sixth mission for the IMF. Although ‘Mission: Impossible 6’ had been scheduled to start production in January 2017, pre-production has been halted on the blockbuster sequel because of disagreements between Cruise and studio Paramount over the actor/producer’s payment package. Cruise is reported to have received both an up-front fee and a percentage of the gross profits on all five ‘Mission: Impossible’ movies, and the series is estimated to have earned him upwards of $300 million to date.
Christopher McQuarrie has slammed rumours surrounding the forthcoming reshoots of ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’. Rumours have emerged from the Making Star Wars site, which has previously broken stories from the production side of the new movies. It’s not clear which parts of the rumours are inaccurate, perhaps that he is to be on-set with British director Gareth Edwards to help ensure he on the 'same page’ with his re-jigged script.
Looks like the long-rumoured sequel to Tom Cruise’s sci-fi action movie ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ is getting off the ground, as a new screenwriting duo has been hired for the film. Deadline report that Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse - up and coming writers behind ‘Race,’ and the upcoming ‘The Gray Man’ and ‘Circle of Treason’ - have been hired to script the follow-up for Cruise and returning director Doug Liman. It is also reported that Christopher McQuarrie, writer of the first ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ and a frequent collaborator with Cruise (having directed ‘Jack Reacher’ and ‘Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation’) will produce, and have some input on the script.
‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ is currently filming ahead of its release in a little over a year, and a new report has given us one of the names who may have worked on the script. None other than Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote 'The Usual Suspects’ and last year’s 'Edge of Tomorrow’. The report comes from Latino Review, who say McQuarrie worked on polishing the script for two weeks earlier this year.
