‘Deadpool 2’ may be getting off the ground somewhat slower than initially expected, but it looks like we have the first confirmed new casting for the offbeat superhero sequel. The man himself, Ryan Reynolds, put an end to months of rumour and speculation on Thursday, by taking to Twitter and revealing the name of the actress set to portray Domino. Yes, this means that Zazie Beetz has been cast as Domino, emerging victorious against such stiff competition as Lizzy Caplan, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Sienna Miller (although apparently not Janelle Monáe, rumoured to have been in the running earlier this week).
It looks as though Domino will appear in ‘Deadpool 2’. According to Collider, not only will the classic ‘X-Men’ character make an appearance in the upcoming ‘Deadpool’ sequel, but there’s a pretty awesome shortlist, too. “Sources close to the production exclusively tell Collider that testing has begun for the character of Domino,” they revealed.
Ever since then rumours surrounding who might actually portray the hugely powerful, time-traveling mutant, who also happens to be the son of Cyclops and Jean Grey’s clone Madelyne Pryor, have started to circulate. During the Meet The Movie Press web series, via Comic Book.com, Mashable’s Jeff Sneider admitted as much, but at the same time he insisted that it needed to be taken with a huge grain of salt. “There’s been a name floating around for Cable for months,” Sneider remarked.
