Disney is the worst studio for hiring black directors, new study shows

Disney is the worst of the ‘big seven’ major studios for hiring black directors, according to a new study. The University of Southern California’s Annenberg’s Media, Diversity & Social Change Initiative has found that the studio employed not one black director for any of its biggest movies of the last decade. 'Ascendant' Budget Slashed as 'Divergent' Franchise Fizzles

In the wake of the weak box office of Allegiant, the third picture in the Divergent franchise based on Veronica Roth’s young adult novels, sources say Lionsgate will cut the budget of the fourth and final movie in the series, Ascendant, due to start shooting this summer. “The budget for the next one will be reduced,” a well-placed production source tells The Hollywood Reporter.

First Look At New Big Screen Power Rangers

Entertainment Weekly just premiered the first group photograph of the core quintet from the new ‘Power Rangers’ movie, currently in production. While ‘Power Rangers’ has never left the small screen, enduring in a long series of different iterations over the past two decades, this new movie from Lionsgate is directly modeled on the original line-up of first series ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,’ introduced in 1993. A popular sensation, ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ spawned a marketing empire, two theatrically released feature films in the mid-1990s, and no less than 21 more ‘Power Rangers’ TV shows to date.
