Few who were around to watch the 1988 Winter Olympics will forget the story of Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards, the hapless sportsman who captured the heart of the nation when he became the first Olympic ski jumper to represent Team GB in Calgary. Now, his story has inspired a new movie starring Taron Egerton as the sports star and Hugh Jackman as his trainer. Directed by Dexter Fletcher and produced by Matthew Vaughn, this looks like it could be the feel good movie of the year when it hits cinemas in April 2016.
‘Eddie the Eagle’ soars high as Taron Egerton appears in the upcoming biopic. Taron Egerton stars as Eddie Edwards – the not-so-brilliant UK ski-jumper whose can-do attitude made him a worldwide sensation after he managed to represent Britain at the 1988 Olympics in Calgary.
