While Jim (Pratt) had been awake from hypersleep for a year before falling into a depressive, lonely state, we perhaps learn about his motives to awaken Aurora (Lawrence) too early on and in not the best order.

The big budget Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence sci-fi vehicle ‘Passengers’ would appear to have flopped at the worldwide box office. After initial forecasts were lowered, it’s made a total of $126 million – around £102 million – worldwide, which isn’t good news. It stars Chris Pratt as engineer Jim Preston, a passenger on a colonisation spacecraft heading for a planet 120 years away, who is accidentally awoken 90 years early from his hibernation pod following a computer malfunction.

Has ‘Passengers’ turned out to be a titanic dud? The upcoming sci-fi romance starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence showed so much promise. ‘Passengers’ stars Chris Pratt as Jim Preston – a mechanical engineer and passenger of the Avalon – a fully-automated space craft on a 120-year trip to ferry 5000 passengers to a new promised land far away from Earth.
