Talent Agency Launches Biz Development Arm Verve Ventures; Amy Beecroft Will Steer It

Lit agency Verve has hatched Verve Ventures, an internal global business development arm. International sales vet Amy Beecroft will run it. She’s a veteran of First Look/Overseas Film Group, HBO, GreeneStreet Films, and FilmNation. They will hatch strategic partnerships in international and domestic film and TV, get into finance and sales, digital distribution and develop new technologies. The agency got a taste of that ushering in Virtual Reality, a concern that is developing content to be viewed in 360-degree 3D formats.

It seems a logical progression for an agency that has grown at a deliberate pace fueled by its lit content. The bigger agencies all have thriving business development arms.

Said Beecroft in a statement: “The international landscape has changed drastically in the last five years. With 70% of the box office coming from the international marketplace, savvy foreign distributors, producers, and financiers alike are looking to establish new and strategic partnerships on both the theatrical and television sides. With Verve representing some of the best directors and writers in the business, I feel we are uniquely positioned to find new and exciting ways to expand our clients’ reach into the global marketplace.”

Said the Verve partners: “With the exponential growth and importance of the overseas marketplace, being able to draw from an international viewpoint will be the best way to serve our clients moving forward and we believe that Amy is the best person to lead the way in this space.”
