Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Debuts as Disney+’s No. 1 Music Film, With Nearly 5 Million Views

There’s probably a Taylor Swift lyric that’d make a fantastic opening line here, but I’m more of a Susanna Hoffs guy. So let’s just get into it, instead.

The three-and-a-half hour Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) concert film generated 16.2 million hours of viewing in its first three days of release, which translates into a record-setting 4.6 million views on Disney+ — making it the No. 1 music film ever on the platform.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) thus bested the likes of Elton John: Farewell from Dodger Stadium, Black Is King: A Film by Beyoncé, The Beatles: Get Back and Swift’s own folklore: the long pond studio sessions to claim that title.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) hit Disney+ last Thursday, March 14 a little ahead of its announced 9 pm ET start time. Disney+ is the only place to watch the concert film in its entirety, complete with songs only seen before at live concerts.

Swift fans (“Swifties” they are called, just as my friends and I are “Hoffheads”) were able to see the performances of new songs such as “cardigan” as well as four additional acoustic songs: “Maroon,” “Death by a Thousand Cuts,” “You Are in Love” and “I Can See You.”

How not at all surprised are you to see Eras Tour set yet another record, for most viewers of a music film on Disney+? Whose household out there seemingly (or literally) had it playing on a loop all weekend?
