Superman actor could be set to play a media mogul in the comedy sequel

Terence Stamp is reportedly being lined-up for a role in the Anchorman sequel.

The veteran Brit actor is seemingly being sought to play a Rupert Murdoch-esque media mogul character in 'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues'.

Though he's not been officially offered the role, he's keen to join the cast, according to film site Ain't It Cool News.

If Stamp, currently starring in comedy drama 'Song For Marion', does score the part, he'll join the recently announced Kristen Wiig among the cast.

Wiig is thought to be playing the love interest for dimly-lit weatherman Brick Tamland.

Reprising roles are Paul Rudd, David Koechner, Christina Applegate, Steve Carell, Fred Willard and Will Ferrell as newscaster Ron Burgundy.

The plot is thought to involve the Channel 4 news team adapting to the pressures of rolling news.

It begins filming next month, and will be released on December 20.
