He did promise he’d be back, and if you’ve ever dreamed of seeing the liquid metal of the T-1000 rushing terrifyingly towards your face, then your prayers have been answered.

‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day’ is heading back to UK cinemas in 3D this summer.

James Cameron’s own team at his production company Lightstorm have converted the classic actioner into three dimensions, working with the movie’s original 35mm negative.

In a restoration that has taken almost a year to complete, it’s also to be presented on screens in the massive 4K format.

The new version of the movie, also being released in the US, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand, will hit cinemas on August 25.

Originally released in 1991, it featured ground-breaking special effects for the time, and was a box office smash.

It made $519.8 million (around $926 million today – £742 million, accounting for inflation), and was critically lauded as a classic example of the action genre.
