Tim Miller, the director of the new Terminator movie, Terminator: Dark Fate, has promised fans that a trailer is incoming.

Sharing a snap shared from the film's editing suite, Miller said that he's putting the 'finishing touches' on the first clip of the sixth movie in the veteran action series.

Via the movie's official Twitter page, he said: “I like to spend every #TerminatorDay in a dark room thinking dark thoughts & our edit bay is the perfect place!

“We're here putting the finishing touches on our FIRST TRAILER - we're just weeks away from releasing this f**ker into the wild & we're very, very excited.”

On the screens is a picture of Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor toting a bazooka, which chimes with some of the early footage which was released for CinemaCon back in April.

Fans described scenes of new star Mackenzie Davis being beamed down to Earth from the future, Diego Luna's new terminator character, which can split into two different killing machines, and some bazooka firing from Hamilton, after which she utters Arnie's line 'I'll be back'.

Maybe this is what we'll be seeing in the trailer.

Miller gave an impassioned – and once again sweary – speech after debuting the footage, saying: “To say that working on this movie was a labor of love for me is an enormous f**king understatement. I think all of you can imagine what a responsibility it is to take over this franchise.

“I still remember when I came to L.A. Saw it at a theatre in Westwood. F**king blew me away. If I could go back in time, like time travel’s a big thing in this movie, and tell that incredibly handsome young nerd that he would one day be continuing the story of these iconic characters, I would’ve passed out in my f**king popcorn.”

The movie, which is being produced by James Cameron, who helmed the first two movies, is a direct sequel of Terminator 2: Judgement Day, with the stories told in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator Salvation and Terminator Genisys now jettisoned.

Also starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Natalia Reyes, Diego Boneta, Enrique Arce, and Jude Collie, it lands in the UK on October 31.
