Watch: The Afterparty S2 cast on their secret-keeping abilities
The cast of Apple TV+ murder-mystery series The Afterparty should all be professional secret keepers, considering the answer to the second season’s central question — who murdered the groom? — has not leaked online.
Or so you would think.
“I'm very bad at keeping secrets, I would say,” Jack Whitehall, who plays a charming businessman linked to the dead groom, tells Yahoo UK.

“In fact, my girlfriend has just had to reveal the gender of our child because I kept accidentally revealing the gender of our child on stage and in interviews and every night, I was like, ‘I just can't do it anyone, please, can you just tell people!’”
In June 2023, Whitehall's partner Roxy Horner revealed they were expecting a girl while appearing on Steph's Packed Lunch.
Sitting alongside co-star Paul Walter Hauser, Whitehall goes on to sneakily hint at one of the show’s surprises (don’t worry, no spoilers here).
Thankfully, Elizabeth Perkins and Anna Konkle, who portray mother and daughter to the deceased, are slightly better at keeping quiet about the series’ plot points.
“Oh it’s really easy,” Perkins says of keeping secrets.
“Same, not a problem,” Konkle adds. “I don’t know what that says about me. Tell me your secrets!”
“I think it's gonna be very difficult for people to pick out the killer [this season],” continues Perkins.
Unlike the other cast members, Sam Richardson and Zoë Chao — alongside Tiffany Haddish — play returning characters, having all appeared in the first season. For them, not talking about the show has become second nature.
“I think it gets easier because I have an excuse to not talk,” Richardson says. “I mean, you really don't want to know.”
“It’s like knowing what you’re going to get for Christmas,” Chao adds. “It's easier for me because I forget. I wake up and treat every day as if it is the first day on this earth.
“I'm not great at figuring out who the murderer is in any book, in any podcast, in the shows I’m in, and then I also seem to have a small bug’s brain when it comes to memory. Both seasons we got to the finale and I was like, ‘Oh no!’”
For producers Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, best known for directing 21 Jump Street and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, as well as producing the Spider-Verse movies, there are no worries about any of the cast talking out of turn about the show’s mystery killer.
“I think we have a list of spoilers and they are all drilled,” Lord says.
“I will say that this cast is full of really smart, talented people, and a lot of them are show-creators themselves,” Miller continues.
"Being able to work with people who are this smart and are this capable, I'm not worried about anyone accidentally saying something that gives away the game.
“I mean, we have some wildcards. Certainly, some folks that, you never know what they're going to say. Curveballs.”
Indeed, Yahoo talks to one of those curveballs: Zach Woods, who plays the murdered groom.

“I'll tell you whatever you want, nothing can stop me, I’m a grown man,” he says.
“It was Ben Schwartz. Ben Schwartz killed me in this season. Not the character, the actor Ben Schwartz. It's a little confusing because he was a character last season, but he's the one.”
Maybe it’s Schwartz, maybe it’s not – you’ll have to watch the new season of The Afterparty to find out.
The Afterparty Season 2 starts streaming on Apple TV+ from July 12 with new episodes released weekly on Wednesdays. Watch a trailer below.
