Ben Affleck and Warner Bros have some fresh ‘Batman’ hell to contend with, as it has been confirmed that the blockbuster is being rewritten from scratch, and its long touted 2018 release date has been delayed even further.

Variety’s Justin Kroll was the first to report that ‘The Batman’ won’t be starting production until 2018, as he alleged that new director Matt Reeves is committed and contracted to working on ‘War For The Planet Of The Apes’ until June.

Kroll then noted that this means casting on ‘The Batman’ won’t begin until July at the earliest, too.

Slash Film also added to the mix by revealing that, according to their sources, the screenplay for ‘The Batman’ is being completely rewritten right from the very bottom. Considering all the confusion with ‘The Batman’, which has included Ben Affleck’s departure as director, and the reaction to ‘Batman v Superman’ and ‘Suicide Squad’, it’s understandable that Warner bros have decided to start from scratch.

But while it’s hard not to be a little downhearted by this latest set-back, there’s actually a positive spin to these developments. This will give director Matt Reeves a perfect platform to work his own magic on ‘The Batman’, while he and Ben Affleck will be able to develop and evolve the film in tandem together.

Plus, its proof that Warner Bros and those connected with the DC Extended Universe are hell bent on getting ‘The Batman’ just right, following the issues with their previous releases. Scrapping any talk of a release date, and making sure that they get the script perfect for their production is the best way to achieve just that, while if they can all get on the same wavelength we should get ‘The Batman’ by 2019.
