It looks as though ‘The Batman’ is going through some changes.
During an interview with CBS Pittsburgh (via Batman News) Joe Manganiello – the man behind the Deathstroke mask – cast doubt on whether or not he’s even in the movie at all.
“Maybe,” he said, throwing his hands up in the air when asked about ‘The Batman’. “Well, we’ll see.”
Not exactly a huge story… if it weren’t for rumours that it’s all change.
It’s no secret that ‘The Batman’ has been in turmoil lately. After losing Ben Affleck as a director, Warner Bros. eventually managed to wrangle Matt Reeves to take the helm. But now it looks as though he’s getting more creative control than they originally bargained on.
Of course, there’s also new reports suggesting that ‘The Batman’ is being completely rewritten by Matt Reeves. Not just simple changes, but a complete rewrite.
And that could mean telling a very different story.
What does that mean for Deathstroke?
Well, as some have rumoured for a while now, it could mean that Deathstroke is no longer in ‘The Batman’… effectively taking Joe Manganiello out of the picture. And that would be an absolute crying shame
Don’t get me wrong – Matt Reeves needs to concentrate on telling the story he wants to tell, rather than attempting to shoehorn in characters simply because it fits in with DC’s overall plans. But Joe Manganiello was always my top pick for a potential Deathstroke.
And he seemed pretty keen on the role, too.
For now, ‘The Batman’ is still up in the air, so we’ll have to wait and see how this all pans out. But it’s not looking good for poor old Deathstroke.
