The Batman starts shooting in spring 2017

‘The Batman’ is coming sooner than you think…

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, ‘The Batman’ star Joe Manganiello revealed that Ben Affleck’s first solo Batman movie starts filming in spring.

Asked how he was feeling following a recent health scare, he replied: “Great, man, just getting ready to go shoot Batman in the spring.”

The 39-year-old actor was recently confirmed to be joining the DC movie universe as the iconic Batman villain, ‘Deathstroke’… and now it looks as though he’s let slip about when the movie will begin principle photography.

And just when Ben Affleck was dialling back expectations.

“I mentioned the other day, it’s been around for a long time that the movie … There is no Batman movie happening yet,” he told The Huffington Post. “We’re still trying to figure it out.”

Of course, Affleck’s comments come after he seemingly confirmed the title for his upcoming Batman movie… but he’s since tried to affirm that the title hasn’t quite been decided.

“So you know, get the script and budget and all that stuff. And someone said, ‘What’re you calling it?’ And I had said, when we were promoting another movie, we don’t have a name for it and right now we’re just calling it, ‘The Batman’ or ‘Batman Movie’ or ‘The Batman.’ And I said that and it was like, ‘Affleck Announces The Title Of His New …’ You can’t even touch it without it being … [trails off]”

Now, it looks as though Ben Affleck has been trying to manage expectations here. But whether or not you believe him about the film’s title, it looks as though ‘The Batman’ - or whatever it will eventually be called - is a lot further along than he wants us to believe.

Could this mean further announcements in the coming months?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

But we wouldn’t be surprised to find an official title announcement or even a release date being revealed sooner rather than later.
