The Dark Knight Batpod Goes Up For Auction

That’s right - you could own Batman’s ride from ‘The Dark Knight’.

The Batpod is a piece of cinemas history. Synonymous with Christopher Nolan’s take on the Dark Knight, the custom-built Batpod was a thing of beauty. But now, it looks as though the original bike from ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is up for sale.

And it could be yours… for a cool £80,000

“Conceived by Christopher Nolan and production designer Nathan Crowley, the Batpod was intended to provide an alternative to Batman’s trusty Tumbler vehicle,” explains Prop Store in the auction listing. “The design was created by Crowley and brought to life by special-effects supervisor Chris Corbould, who made six of the vehicles for use on The Dark Knight.”

Of course, the bike was made famous by its appearance in ‘The Dark Knight’ - specifically, those amazing scenes when Christian Bale’s Batman used the Batpod to escape his destroyed Tumbler during a battle with Heath Ledger’s Joker.

But how much bang do you get for your buck?

Described as a ‘roller’, it looks as though this Batpod needs a bit of work.

“It is drained of all fluids, and the battery, fuel tank and throttle controls have been removed.”

Still, with a bit of TLC it won’t be long before the bike’s next owner gets the Batpod running again. And with a fibreglass body, 750cc Honda motor and 31” Hoosier racing tires, it will be the envy of every biker on the block.

But with a top speed of 120mph, don’t expect too quick a getaway.

The auction begins at the end of September, and with a catalogue price of £60000 - £80000 it’s expected to make around the top end of the estimate.

At that price, it’s only Bruce Wayne who can afford it anyway.
