The Flash Solo Movie Adds Kiersey Clemons

It looks as though ‘The Flash’ has found its Iris West…

According to Variety, ‘Dope’ star Kiersey Clemons has been cast as iconic comic book character Iris West in the upcoming film adaptation of ‘The Flash’.

“Kiersey Clemons has closed a deal to star opposite Ezra Miller in ‘The Flash’ movie,” they revealed. “Variety first reported earlier this month that she was the top choice for the female lead in the Warner Bros. film.”

Kiersey Clemons is perhaps best known for the role of Diggy in ‘Dope’.

But she’s also starred in Amazon Studios TV show, ‘Transparent’ as well as landing a role in the upcoming ‘Flatliners’ remake.

But who will she play in ‘The Flash’?

“Insiders reveal that Clemons is likely to play Iris West, the tough-as-nails journalist and friend of Barry Allen, the Flash’s alter ego.”

And of course, the long-time sweetheart of The Flash.

Iris West has already appeared on screen courtesy of ‘The Flash’ TV series, with Candice Patton in the role opposite Grant Gustin’s Flash. And now it looks as though the big screen DC universe is taking a few cues from the TV show… at least, when it comes to the nerdy Barry Allen.

“The Flash had to overcome the hurdle of replacing the film’s original director, Seth Grahame-Smith, who parted ways with the project over creative differences,” they explain. “Dope helmer Rick Famuyiwa took over directing duties in June.”

“The movie, however, appears to be able to meet its planned start date. Production is expected to commence sometime this year.”

‘The Flash’ stars Ezra Miller as the titular superhero, and will be directed by Rick Famuyiwa based on a screenplay by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

‘The Flash’ heads to cinemas on 16 March 2018.
