The Joker’s Surprising Suicide Squad Disguise

Update: Bleeding Cool report that the item in question is not related to the ‘Suicide Squad’ movie, so this may not be a spoiler after all.

Possible spoilers ahead, as evidence comes to light of an unexpected outfit which may be worn by Jared Leto’s Joker in the upcoming ‘Suicide Squad.’

After the largely negative reaction to ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ (not that this kept it from making almost $873 million at the global box office), hopes are high that ‘Suicide Squad’ will renew faith in the Warner Bros’ fledgling DC Extended Universe.

Whilst the film is based primarily around an assembly of comparatively lesser-known DC villains, arguably its two largest selling points are the first live-action presentation of Harley Quinn in actress Margot Robbie, and Jared Leto filling the not-inconsiderable footprints of Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson as The Joker.

We already know that Leto’s Joker will at the very least look like none of his predecessors, given his gym-toned physique, plethora of tattoos and metal teeth – but this might not be the only unusual look we see the Clown Prince of Crime adopt in the movie.

Again, potential spoiler coming up, so don’t read on if you’d rather go in blind to ‘Suicide Squad’

Okay, you can’t say we didn’t warn you.

Birth Movies Death got a look at a Hot Toys display at San Diego Comic Con, which appear to reveal The Joker dressed up as none other than his own arch nemesis – Batman himself.

While it’s entirely feasible this could simply be intended as a fan-pleasing novelty item bearing no relation to the film, BMD note it’s not the only toy of its sort, with a cutesier alternative also on display:

As every other ‘Suicide Squad’ toy on display was reportedly “straight up from the film,” this would seem to suggest that we can indeed expect to see the Joker dressed up as the Dark Knight. Or, at least, the Purple and Green Knight.

Either way, it looks like we’ll almost certainly see the iconic adversaries trade blows in ‘Suicide Squad,’ as the newly released trailer below – focussed primarily on Leto’s Joker – seems to show just that happening.

‘Suicide Squad’ opens on 5 August.
