His family released the following statement via Facebook:

“The McCarter family is heartbroken to share the news that Brooke McCarter passed away December 22, 2015 from the genetic liver condition alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AAT),” it reads. “He was 52. Brooke was our loving son, brother, father, cousin, nephew and friend. Funeral arrangements are still being finalized. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

‘The Lost Boys’ co-star Corey Feldman has already taken to Twitter.

“Very sad!” he said. “R.I.P. Brooke!” He then retweeted dozens of condolence messages from his fans.

Brooke McCarter began his career as a model at the age of 14… but soon made the transition to screen after appearing in the 1980s reboot of the classic sci-fi TV program, ‘The Twilight Zone’.

Shortly afterwards, he landed the role of Paul in ‘The Lost Boys’ and eventually went on to appear alongside Michael Chiklis in ‘Wired’ – a rather oddball movie about the late John Belushi.

According to McCarter’s website, he left showbiz behind in 1988… in order to pursue a career in telecommunications.

After a 20-year break he was bitten by the acting bug once more… and appeared in ‘The Uh-Oh Show’ back in 2009 as well as ‘Emerging Past’. Most recently, he shot the ‘Emerging Past’ director’s cut, which is currently in post-production.
