The Rock Wanted For Universal’s Wolf Man

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is being courted for Universal’s ‘Wolf Man’.

According to Deadline, the 44-year-old actor and former WWE wrestler is being eyed for a role in the upcoming ‘Wolf Man’ reboot – one of the upcoming Universal Monster movies.

“There are persistent rumors that Universal wants him howling at the moon when it gets around to the Wolf Man movie that is part of its classic monsters franchise revival plans,” they revealed.

What will that role be?

Who know… The upcoming action adventure is yet to cast any main players. And while it’s based on the 1941 film ‘The Wolf Man’, it’s unclear how closely the reboot will stick to the original story.

If it’s anything like the other monster reboots, it will only loosely resemble the original film.

The 1941 version of ‘The Wolf Man’ follows the story of Larry Talbot – a man who returns to his ancestral home in Wales, only to be confronted with tales of mysterious werewolves. But when he encounters one of the beasts up close, Larry is bitten… and turns into The Wolf Man.

Could The Rock take the ill-fated leading role?

‘The Wolf Man’ starred Lon Chaney Jr as the eponymous creature, who returned for four horror sequels, including ‘Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man’ where he reteamed with the iconic horror legend, Bela Lugosi.

The recently rebooted Universal Monsters franchise began unexpectedly with ‘Dracula Untold’… and continues in 2017 with ‘The Mummy’ – starring Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella and Annabelle Wallis.

‘The Wolf Man’ is rumoured to head to cinemas in 2018.
