There's now an Iron Man suit that can actually fly

We're now one step closer to an actual flying Iron Man suit.

Adam Savage, the former host of long-running Discovery Channel series Mythbusters, got busy with a 3D printer, and has managed to get an impressive facsimile of Tony Stark's iconic tech off the ground.

The video of the seriously impressive get-up has had over four million views in only three days after debuting on CNET's YouTube channel to promote his new show, Savage Builds.

In a collaboration with the impossibly cool sounding Colorado School of Mines, he had a full titanium suit of bulletproof Iron Man armour printed, made up of 280 separate moving parts and using files from the actual Mark Two Iron Man suit seen in the Marvel movies.

“If Tony Stark was not fictional and he was making an Iron Man suit right now, this is precisely how he would do it, and this is the exact technology he would use,” reckons Savage.

He then coupled the armour with cutting edge jet pack technology from British inventor Richard Browning, dubbed 'the real life Iron Man', made by his company Gravity Industries.

And after running through the development process, Savage then takes off on an airfield in California.

We fully expect that we'll all be wearing these to get to work by the end of the year.

OK, maybe next year.

Savage’s new show, Savage Builds, will air on the Science Channel.
