Michael Douglas reveals Val Kilmer is battling cancer - "Things don't look too good"

Michael Douglas has revealed that his friend Val Kilmer has been battling throat cancer, and that ‘things don’t look too good’.

Kilmer has always denied the rumours that he’s been suffering problems with his throat, despite being pictured with a tracheotomy tube last year, and often appearing with conspicuous scarves covering his neck.

The former Batman star has instead insisted that he had swelling from a medical procedure.

But Douglas appears to know different.

The ‘Wall Street’ star was speaking at ‘An Evening With Michael Douglas’, hosted by Jonathan Ross at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London.

Speaking about their 1996 movie ‘The Ghost and the Darkness’, Douglas said: “The picture didn’t turn out as well as I hoped but I had a wonderful time.

“Val was a wonderful guy who is dealing with exactly what I had [cancer], and things don’t look too good for him.

“My prayers are with him. That’s why you haven’t heard too much from Val lately.’

In January, Kilmer posted a message to fans on Facebook, after rumours about his ill health began swirling.

“Thank you for all your sweet support. But I have not had a tumor, or tumour operations, or any operation,” he said. “I had a complication where the best way to receive care was to stay under the watchful eye of the UCLA ICU.

“Friends have assisted who know my spiritual convictions and have been most sensitive and kind for the extra effort in making sure there’s minimum gossip and silly talk. I am praying for a spedy return to the boards as they say.

“God bless you all and please don’t worry.”

Kilmer is a Christian Scientist, with rumours that it was his religious beliefs that had prevented him from initially seeking treatment.

Douglas, 72, announced he was suffering throat cancer three years ago, but is now clear of the disease.
