It is a far-cry from the eye-watering property prices of London - but this house in Scotland could be yours for just ONE POUND.

The property in Upperton, North Lanarkshire, has gone on sale for the bargain price after it fell into disrepair following years of neglect.

But despite the low price, it needs extensive renovations - with one photo showing a caved-in ceiling and debris strewn across the floor.

The bare kitchen also appears to be filled with broken shelves and cupboards, while the door to the house’s bathroom is shown hanging off its hinges.

However, the online description for the would-be home asks owners to see beyond the obvious faults - describing it as an ‘exceptional property.’

‘Exceptional opportunity to purchase this three bedroom top floor flat in a quiet residential area of Upperton’, the website listing states.

'The property requires significant upgrading throughout but offers huge potential for development.

'On completion of works, this fantastic opportunity would be an ideal buy to let investment offering an outstanding potential rental yield.’

Other properties in the block have previously sold for more than £30,000 - and now estate agents believe that it will be snapped up quickly when it goes under the hammer at a Glasgow auction house in a fortnight.
