Thomas Markle wants the Queen to help mend rift between him and Meghan

Thomas Markle has revealed he hopes the Queen will step in to help mend the rift between him and his estranged daughter Meghan.

Speaking to ITV’s Good Morning Britain on Monday morning, the 74-year-old says he has “reached out” to the Duchess of Sussex every day but has had no response from her.

It is believed that the pair haven’t spoke since Meghan and Harry’s wedding in May. He was caught staging paparazzi photos for money and subsequently pulled out of walking his daughter down the aisle, reportedly due to health problems.

Speaking about the Queen stepping in, he said: “I would appreciate anything she can do.

“I would think she would want to resolve family problems.

“All families, royal or otherwise, are the same and they should all be together, certainly around the holidays.”

The retired Hollywood lighting director is desperate to heal the rift between him and Meghan, 37, who is expecting her and Harry’s first child in spring 2019.

“There has to be a place for me, I’m her father and I will be the grandfather to her children.

“All I can say is I’m here, she knows it, and I’ve reached out to her and I need her to reach back to me.

“I love her very much.”

Mr Markle also dismissed reports that the Duchess was “difficult” to work for.

“Meghan’s always been a very polite girl.

“She’s never been rude to anyone to my knowledge.”

When questioned by Piers Morgan whether Meghan had a tendency to dump people, if they were no longer of use to her, he responded: “She’s always been a very controlling person and that’s part of her nature but she’s never been rude.

“The ghosting I don’t completely understand – she’s always been in charge, that’s her nature, but she’s always been polite with it.”

Kensington Palace have declined to comment on Mr Markle’s interview.
