No one was happy with the attempted ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot back in 2015. Director Josh Trank disowned it, Fox heavily re-edited it, some of the actors admitted never having seen it, critics heavily lambasted it, while audiences stayed away, too.

Toby Kebbell, who played Doctor Doom in it, has now joined in the attacks on the film, detailing why their incarnation of the villain failed so spectacularly.

The English actor was quizzed about ‘Fantastic Four’ by HeyUGuys at the premiere for ‘Kong: Skull Island’, which provoked him to say of his character, “Truth is, Doom is an incredible bad guy. They just keep trying to force him into the Fantastic Four. They just need to move it out because he smashes up Thor and Iron Man and they get wasted. Doom is a monster, but my Doom was not, so that is that.”

After being asked about potentially returning as Doctor Doom if a ‘Fantastic Four’ sequel was ever greenlit, Kebbell emphatically responded, “I won’t be in it!”

However, when he was asked whether or not he’d be interested in reprising the character if he crossed over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Kebbell was much more enthusiastic, declaring, “Yeah, if they lend him out like a footballer. They do with Spider-Man.”

I wouldn’t spend too much time waiting by the phone for Marvel to call, Toby, because not only is Fox and Marvel’s relationship incredibly icy, but Marvel are likely to reboot the characters again if they actually do get their hands on them. If that happens, then they will be praying that it’s a case of third time’s a charm.
