Quentin Tarantino has admitted that he approached Tom Cruise about starring in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, and it is clear that the Top Gun actor made quite the impression on the director during their meeting.

Tarantino made this revelation about Cruise being considered for the part of Cliff Booth in his latest film during his recent discussion for the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

“We talked about it. He’s a great guy, and we really hit it off and it could happen on something else.”

Of course, now that Tarantino has suggested he will one day work with Tom Cruise he clearly needs to team up with the Hollywood star, who has now been the biggest actor on the planet for close to 35 years.

There’s clearly no reason for Tarantino to be upset that he missed out on casting Cruise, though, as the man who eventually was cast in the part of Cliff Booth was none other than Brad Pitt.

Tarantino feels rather lucky and special to have both DiCaprio and Pitt in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, as he also opened up about the reality of getting both of these acting legends to feature in the film.

“The reality of it was, people ask, ‘Was it always these two guys?’ And I’m like, ‘Well, it’s the casting coup of the decade.’ You can’t count on that,” he said. “They both have to respond to it, they both have to want to play they roles, they have to be available. There’s a whole lot of stuff there.”
