Tom Cruise performed over 500 skydives in preparation for a stunt in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.
Calling the stunt the 'most dangerous' ever attempted for a film, a new behind the scenes videos has been released showing Cruise's training for the scene which calls for him to ride a motorbike off a cliff and parachute to safety.
The nine minute video shows Cruise repeatedly skydiving to perfect his technique with one of the stunt coordinators revealing that he performed over 500 jumps from a plane to prepare for that one scene.
Cruise also performed 13,000 motorcross jumps on a dirt bike with the video showing the Top Gun star able to calculate how fast he is going through the noise and vibrations from the bike.

Dead Reckoning Part One is the seventh installment in the Mission: Impossible series and as is tradition with the franchise, the bike to skydive stunt was the first scene shot for the film.
The clip shows Cruise performing the stunt successfully without a double or a harness six times in one day.
Dead Reckoning Part One is once again directed by Christopher McQuarrie who also helmed the fifth and sixth installments.
He has been a regular collaborator with Cruise since he wrote 2008's Valkyrie and has also worked with the Oscar nominee on Jack Reacher, Edge of Tomorrow and Top Gun: Maverick.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One features an ensemble cast including returning stars such as Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson and Vanessa Kirby. Henry Czerny also makes his first appearance in the series since the 1996 original.
New additions to the cast include Esai Morales as the villain, Hayley Atwell, Rob Delaney and The Princess Bride star Cary Elwes.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is scheduled for release on 14 July, 2023. Watch a trailer below.
