Tom Cruise is to become the first actor to film inside the Houses of Parliament, according to reports.

Access for the filming of the so-far untitled ‘Mission: Impossible’ movie, the fifth in the series, has been granted to the iconic seat of power.

A source revealed to The Sun: “MI5’ will feature numerous well-known locations in London but the Houses of Parliament is clearly the biggest coup.

"Tom Cruise will obviously feature heavily in the scenes.

"You can imagine the writers are excited about what stints they could pull off inside the Commons."

It’s not yet known what action-packed shenanigans the 51-year-old actor, who has a penchant for doing his own stunts, might be getting up to.

But it may not be the only recognisable landmark to feature in the movie.

Film bosses are also looking to film other scenes at The Shard at London Bridge, the Emirates sponsored cable car over the Thames and the Olympic stadium.

“A few items are set to be filmed around London, including a motorbike chase down The Mall, followed by a boat chase scene along The Thames,” added the source.

“They are also going to do some work around the Emirates Cable Cars.”

Landmarks from around the world have often appeared in the series, including the Burj Khalifa Tower in Dubai in the last movie, ‘Mission: Impossible 5 – Ghost Protocol’, the tallest building in the world.

Nerve-shredding pictures emerged of Cruise, shoeless, perched seemingly without any safety harness at the top.
