Tom Hanks Being Sued For Alleged Car Crash Involving Son Chet

Tom Hanks has been dragged into a lawsuit regarding an alleged car accident involving his son Chester, better known as Chet.

The ‘Bridge of Spies’ star is being held partially responsible for the incident supposedly involving a car registered in his name.

Filed on 25 March, the lawsuit’s plaintiff, Terry Moogan, claims Chet was under the influence of “drugs and/or alcohol” when he supposedly collided with Moogan’s car.

It is claimed (via Yahoo Celebrity) that Hanks and his wife, Chet’s mother Rita Wilson, are the vehicles’ owners.

“Despite knowing that Chester Hanks was a careless and reckless driver and a habitual user of drugs and alcohol, [Tom and Rita] negligently permitted Chester Hanks to operate their vehicle and thus, in addition to Chester Hanks, are responsible for the physical and emotional injuries Mr. Moogan sustained as a result of the accident,” claims the suit.

Last year Chet Hanks revealed a cocaine addiction in a series of since-deleted Instagram videos. In the videos he says: “A couple months ago I was selling coke [and] doing coke until I couldn’t even snort it up my nose anymore because it was so clogged.

“I even smoked crack. If I can change, you can change. There is a solution.” He also revealed that he had received treatment in rehab.

At the premiere of 'Bridge of Spies’ last October Entertainment Tonight asked Hanks about his son’s problems. “As a parent, you love your kids unconditionally,” he said. “You support them every step of the way. You got to applaud the bravery and honesty when it actually comes out of your own house.”
