Tom Hiddleston 'open to' singing on-screen again

Tom Hiddleston has expressed interest in singing on-screen again.

The Avengers actor, who played Hank Williams in 2015's I Saw the Light, was asked during a live event for the Happy Sad Confused podcast if he would appear in another music-based film.

"Definitely. I'm open to it. Yeah," Tom confirmed. "But there are people like (his longtime friend) Eddie Redmayne, who have been blessed with pipes that are extremely pleasing to listen to. And I don't know that I have those pipes."

In the 2015 biopic biographical drama, Tom played country musician Hank as he rose to fame before suddenly dying at the age of 29.

"There was a vague physical resemblance I had to him, but the singing was completely new. And then the singing was not just in my own voice, but it was in his voice," Tom said of the movie. "And yeah, getting that right was a journey of 1,000 miles."

In a 2015 Facebook post, the late musician's grandson Hank Williams III claimed Tom's performance lacked the "justice and real foundation" needed to portray his grandfather, however, the country icon's granddaughter Holly Williams disagreed to Rolling Stone, praising Tom for working "so hard to embody everything about Hank".

Elsewhere in the interview, the British actor gushed over the "moving" script for I Saw The Light.

"The pitch of Marc Abraham - our lovely, brilliant director and writer - was that Hank Williams' genius as a lyricist and a songwriter had come directly from his personal relationships, chief among them with Audrey Mae Sheppard - his first wife," Tom explained. "And so he was interweaving the story of this relationship with this musical journey he was on as a young man."

Audrey, Hank's first wife, manager and duet partner, was portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen in the film.
