Tom Holland found out he was Spider-Man on Instagram

You’d have thought that Marvel would have at least given Tom Holland a phone-call to tell the actor that he was the new Spider-Man.

But apparently they forgot to do that, because the 20-year-old actor revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that he actually found out that he had been cast as the superhero while perusing through Instagram in bed.

“I was in my bed scrolling through Instagram,” Holland confessed. “It had been about a month since my audition. And Marvel just posted a photo saying go to our website and find out who the next Spider-Man is. I went on the Marvel website on my computer and there it was: The new Spider-Man is Tom Holland.”

How did Tom Holland react to this news? In an understandable manner, as he admitted, “I went ballistic, like absolutely nuts.”

But ever since then Holland has been hard at work as the character, making his debut as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ while he recently wrapped on ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, too.

Holland described shooting ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ as “brutal,” but he’ll have to get used to these conditions because in the same interview he also confirmed that he’s signed up for six films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We’ve only got 8 short months until we next see Tom Holland again as the iconic web slinger, too, because ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ will be with us on July 7, 2017.
